Learn more about how dental crowns and bridges can help!

Fix Missing, Cracked or Infected Teeth

For those patients out there dealing with a cracked, fractured or broken tooth, the sooner you seek treatment from our Pensacola dentist the better. A damaged tooth will usually just get worse unless the underlying issue is treated. If we have told you that you need a root canal, most teeth after this procedure will also require a dental crown to protect the weakened outer portion of the tooth.

For those who are missing a tooth or multiple teeth in a row, a dental bridge might give you what you are looking for. This restoration uses healthy neighboring teeth to anchor it into place to hold a false tooth. And these artificial teeth are designed to look just like natural teeth so that the only person who will know that you have a false tooth is you!

Getting a Dental Crown or Bridge

In many ways these two processes are similar. If your tooth is infected, the first thing we will need to do is go into the tooth and treat the infection. We will also need to buff out any cracks or chips in the tooth and prepare the tooth by shaving it down so that the crown will fit over it. The same preparation will also be required for natural teeth that are going to be supporting your dental bridge.

No matter whether you are getting a crown or bridge, impressions of your smile will also need to be taken so that a lab can create a restoration that fits just perfectly into your smile. When it comes time to place the restoration, the dental crowns will be placed over the teeth and, once we check the fit, will be cemented into place.
